Where does Lobuche Peak lie?
Lobuche Peak is located in the Khumbu (Everest) region of Nepal, near the village of Lobuche and the Khumbu Glacier. It is approximately 13.5 km away from Mount Everest.
How high is the summit of the Lobuche Peak?
The summit of Lobuche Peak sits at a height of 6,119m (20,075ft). There are two faces of Lobuche Peak; Lobuche East (6,119m) and Lobuche West (6,145m). However, Lobuche East is known as the true summit of Lobuche Peak due to its accessibility and easiness.
How long is Lobuche Peak Climbing?
The summit day involves 8 to 10 hours of ascent plus descent to reach the summit and return to the Lobuche Base Camp. As for the overall duration, Lobuche Peak Climbing’s itinerary can last from a minimum of 14 days to 20 days. The addition of Everest Base Camp Trek on the Lobuche Peak expedition makes the expedition go longer. However, our package, offered by the Nepal Wilderness Trekking Team, is only from Lobuche to the base camp summit at the peak and brings you back to Lobuche.
When to do Lobuche Peak climbing and when not to do it?
Lobuche Peak is ideal to climb from March to June (Spring) and September to December (Autumn). Both of these times are perfectly best due to their stable weather, warm temperature, and clear visibility.
And there are times when you should not do the Lobuche Peak or any other climbing. The two times are Winter (January to February) and Monsoon (July to August) which are also termed as the off-seasons for Himalayan adventure. You won’t get stable weather, warm temperatures, and clear vision in the off-season.
How hard is Lobuche Peak Climbing?
Lobuche Peak is one of the most difficult trekking peaks in Nepal. There is one technical section while ascending the summit where a climber has to ascend a 45-degree steep snowy trail. That technical section is easily doable with prior mountaineering training and practice with climbing ropes. Other than that, the climb is as easy as other trekking peaks. A simple high-altitude trekking experience and climbing training are enough for this expedition.
What are the real chances of altitude sickness during the expedition?
Altitude sickness is prone to everyone who is wandering above 4000m of altitude. If no or fewer precautions are taken then the chances of getting caught by the mountain sickness are real and dangerous too.
