The Amphu Lapcha Pass trek is one of the most challenging and rewarding treks in the Everest region of Nepal. This trek combines the beauty of the Everest region with the remote wilderness of the Makalu Barun National Park, offering breathtaking views, high-altitude adventure, and a chance to explore less-trodden paths. The pass sits at an elevation of 5,845 meters (19,177 feet) and connects the Hinku Valley to the Imja Valley. It is a technical and challenging pass that requires mountaineering skills and equipment to cross.
The Amphu Lapcha Pass trek is typically crossed by experienced mountaineers who are attempting to climb one of the many peaks in the area, such as Island Peak or Mera Peak. It is a remote and demanding route that requires careful planning, proper equipment, and experienced guides.
The Mera Peak, Amphu Lapcha, and Island Peak Climbing Trip offers a comprehensive package from Khare by Nepal Wilderness Trekking Pvt. Sherpa guides and porter teams. Over the past 10 years, we have observed that many trekkers and climbers prefer tea house stays till Khare, then continue to Lapcha Pass after summiting Mera Peak. Most areas in the Mera Peak and Everest region have tea house accommodations, allowing treks with a Porter Cum Guide, with or without porters, to Khare. However, the Hinku Valley, between Mera Peak and Island Peak, lacks tea houses at Amphu Lapcha Base Camp, necessitating camping with porters and climbing guides.
Of course, the Mera Peaks Amphu Lapcha Pass trek is slightly more expensive due to the wilderness area. Nevertheless, there are two options: arrange from Kathmandu or accept a mini package entirely from us. Our staff operates in two sections. First, from Khare, they will summit Mera and lead you through Amphu Lapcha Pass. Then, the second section of staff at Island Peak Base Camp will lead you to summit Island Peak and bring you to Chhukung. However, if you only want to climb Mera Peak and cross Amphu Lapcha Pass, our staff will drop you at Chhukung and return to Khare, leaving you to continue your trek on your own from Chhukung.
Mera Amphu Lapcha Pass is reached via the wilder upper Hongu Valley.
